In the last twenty-five years, the backgrounding and stocker division of the ranch has grown tremendously, with the majority of the feeder calves are purchased directly from ranches that have longstanding quality genetics and health programs.

Along with available grass, the ranch incorporates local commodities as well as the use of excess fruits and vegetables from HEB, Walmart, and other retail grocery stores. With the watchful eye of our cowboys all calves are monitored and handled horseback on a daily basis.

Most of the ranch feeder cattle are sent to commercial feedyards to be finished for beef. ​A small select group of the best steers and heifers are finished at our ranch feedlot and eventually become Diamond A Ranch Beef.
